While this is a generally very safe road, it is also a Real Hawai'i road! By coming up for a tour you agree you are driving at your own risk..!
This is just a disclaimer - we have 8-12 tours daily with no issues. But we have to please just let you know :]
IN SOUTH KONA:
Take Mamalahoa Hwy, aka Hwy 11, and we are on the ‘Mauka’ side of the road [ Inland / Mountain side ]. We are between Mile Markers 105 & 106.
Do Not turn up the road at the Assembly of God Church. Google often directs people here but that is not our road.
On our road, there is a concrete sign painted red & yellow reading ‘Bruner Rd/Filipino Clubhouse Rd.’
From just uphill off the highway, the road immediately forks; --> stay Right to be on Bruner Road.
We are a small farm of 6.1 Acres, so you will actually find us amongst other small farms up Bruner Road. Ours is toward the very top of the mountain and it will take 8-10 minutes to reach us from the bottom of the hill.
PS, DON’T mind the ‘No Trespassing’ or ‘Private’ signs..! This is standard practice and this is indeed a private road, but, you were invited :] Anyone you meet on our hill will give you kindness, a smile, and even a Shaka if you know it :].
Please know this is a “real” big island road. It is bumpy and winding.
That said, you do Not need a special car or 4WD. Most every single tour who has visited [ and we do tours daily ] has been a standard rental car.
Just go slow [ 5-10mph ] and careful.
You will pass a small bridge. There is a surfboard stuck in the ground at another fork, with a shark bite carved into it;
--> Don’t go straight up past the surfboard, instead, continue Right.
Here you are halfway.
There are few more curves and you’ll be passing more driveways - sometimes with a fence or gate open. These are easy to mistake for the road.
Just stay on the main paved part to be sure you’re on the road.
You may pass a large gate, w a sign reading ‘Langenstein Farms.’
This is our neighbor. Don’t go into the gate if it’s open. Stay on the road and that means you’re again continuing Right.
Now you will approach a wooden house amongst about 6 very tall pine trees and and on the house a small white sign reading 'Rooster Farms.' ( Not the yellow one- that isn’t yet at our house. That is our drying deck ).
Once you’re at the house, That's us~!
There are 2 driveways on either side of the large wooden water tank. You can park in either.
PLEASE make sure you do not pass our house. The road gets pretty crazy after our farm. Ours is hard to miss- we are right in the center of the 6 huge pine trees, as well at the only place at which the road junctures into 4 forks.
Take care, and thanks again!
